FBA rejections are almost always a packing detail, not a product problem. The product is fine; the FNSKU is on the wrong face, or the poly bag has no suffocation warning, or the carton exceeds the weight limit. All of it is avoidable before the goods leave the factory.
Unit-level requirements
- FNSKU label applied to each individual unit — not the outer carton, and not the manufacturer's barcode
- Label on the correct face, fully flat, not wrapped around a corner or over a seam
- Poly bagging for loose items — books and decks that could be damaged in transit
- Suffocation warning printed on bags above the size threshold, or a hole punched
- No combined labelling — if you sell a bundle and singles, the bundle needs its own FNSKU
Carton-level requirements
- Carton weight and size within the destination marketplace limits
- Carton label with shipment ID and box number, on an unsealed face
- Contents described accurately — 'printed books', not 'gifts'
- Cartons sealed with tape, not staples or straps
- Multiple SKUs in one carton only if the shipment plan allows it; mixed cartons slow receiving
Getting the factory to do it for you
Most factories will apply FNSKU labels, poly bag the units and print carton marks if you send the label files and the packing plan. It is far cheaper done at the factory than in a prep centre in your destination country — you are paying for the same labour either way, but at source you are not also paying for the round trip.
Send your printer: the FNSKU label PDF, the labelling position, the bagging rule, the carton mark layout, and the units-per-carton plan. Ask for photographs of a finished carton before the shipment leaves — this is the cheapest possible way to catch a labelling mistake.
Delivery and customs
If your printer ships DDP, they handle duties and clearance, and can deliver directly to the FBA warehouse. Two things to confirm: that the destination address is the correct fulfilment centre for your products, and that the delivery appointment is booked rather than assumed — FBA receiving slots are not walk-in.
Pre-inbound checklist
- FNSKU labels generated, print-tested at actual size, sent to the printer
- Bagging and suffocation-warning rules confirmed for your category
- Carton weight, size and marks confirmed against the destination marketplace
- Units-per-carton plan agreed and photographed before dispatch
- DDP landed cost agreed, with the FBA address and appointment confirmed
- Final inspection report and photos received before the goods ship
